Would throwing a toaster or hair dryer in a bathtub really kill you?

??

Would throwing a toaster or hair dryer in a bathtub really kill you?

It depends. . .If it hits you really hard in the head. . .maybe. . .

If it is plugged in to an electrical outlet not protected by GFI, then it just may ruin your life if you are in the tub and the tub has water in it.. Homes older than 25 years old have bathroom outlets that are unprotected. GFI was/is a great protection and a great idea. It senses the electricity that may escape through the "Ground" (the water in the tub for example) and interrupts the flow of electricity almost instantly.

If it is plugged in, then yes. You will be electrocuted.

If it was plugged in it would. They did a test on Myth Busters and it is a fact. You will die a gruesome death.

It would electrocute you well- those really pull the electricity when they are on= d

Would throwing a toaster or hair dryer in a bathtub really kill you?

Only if the toaster or hair dryer are plugged in and the tub is full of water. Electricity and water don't mix.

Yes

if the circuit breaker or safety switch on your switch board didnt work. i wouldnt do it any way, you would get a huge boot either way, if not death....

Would throwing a toaster or hair dryer in a bathtub really kill you?

It depends. On older homes all the plumbing was steel, copper, or lead. And the outlets in the bathroom were unprotected even some were ungrounded. In this senerio yes you would be electrocuted. In newer homes the drains are PVC so non conductive so you would not be grounded through the drain. And now a GFI or ground fault interupter is code for bathroom plugs. So now you are not grounded and at the same time the outlet will sense a flow of fault current in the water and quickly shut off the electricity to that plug so you will not be electrocuted. Don't try anything or you will do 25 to life.

Please don't do anything dumb, seriously.

Would throwing a toaster or hair dryer in a bathtub really kill you?

Yep. If you're in that tub. If you're wet, you're fried, electrocuted like the electric chair

If you are the guy tossing them in you will be ok but the person in the bath will be toast.
