I know I SHOULDN'T do this, but CAN I plug my hair dryer into the outlet in my car? Or will it

Finally someone that sees things like I do. I have a 2 hour commute to work every morning in bumper to bumper traffic. I shave, dry my hair, make breakfast, brew coffee and dress all on the way to work. If I had to do this all before leaving the house. I would have to get up at 3AM. Lately I have been taking my dog %26amp; cat to work with me and feeding them on the way. My best friend works at the toll booth I go through and I drop them off there and pick them up on the way back. You will need some basic 12 volt stuff. Here is the hair drier I have http://www1.shopping.com/xPC-12_Volt_Hai... I have a 12 volt electric razor, can opener, toaster, coffeemaker, iron, hot plate and refridgerator and TV. I just throw the paper in the back seat after I get done reading it and doing the crossword puzzle. That way the animals have something to go on. By this time the iron is hot and I press my suit on the dashboard. I empty a bag of dry cat %26amp; dog food on the back seat on Monday and Wednesday. Then I shave and have a cup of java while the bacon %26amp; sausage are cooking. I get to work at 6:30 AM, right on time and all charged up raring to go!

I had the impression that the asker of this question was wondering if she could just plug the two prong electric supply connector on the end of the cord to her dryer into the cigarette lighter socket on her dashboard, and the answer to that would be NO!, NO!, ABSOLUTELY NOT! Report It

Go to a real truckstop and check out the amazing line of 12-volt appliances there made to do just that. You can also get a fitting to wire in that has multiple outlets. Report It

you wanna do WHAT!

I think you will find that the hair drier exceeds the wattage your car outlet is capable of handling. Its designed for low power draw things like cell phones, laptops etc.

yes you can but you will need a big power invertert that will conect to your car lighter that will convert 12v 5a to 110v 1800 plus watts, amps am not sure but am guessing 30amp

you looking at a $200 plus for that kind of power inverter maybe at radioshack or hardware store...

You can run the dryer from an AC converter running off of the cigarette lighter, but the wattage would probably blow the fuse for the lighter circuit.

and you want a cell phone a dvd going all at the same time, she wants a great Big Jimmy with Bathroom in it..

if you car is supplied with a 12v to 120v convertor than you can, if not you can have one installed

yes,why not.but it will break the fuse in a normal car.devices like hair dryers consumes a lot of watt.so u need a inverter supporting ur device.

A 110 volt alternating current hair dryer won't work off a 12 Volt direct current outlet. That's what all the comments about an inverter are about. It's basically a transformer to make compatible voltage.

No, you can't do it. But 12VDC hair dryers may be available at your local RV outlet. The bigger problem is that time management skills are in question - and even though you really won't do it driving, it will happen (darn human nature.) That's a distracted driving ticket, accident, or worse.

Use traffic time to study a foreign language, and then maybe sign language, too. Then you can flash other drivers in the traffic jam the "hawaiian good luck" sign for slowing things down with all their newspaper reading, shaving, talking on cell phones, accidents, and grid lock.

I have, and I see a lot of others study Hawaiian sign language , too.
